Singleton set to celebrate Christmas in style
Nov 4, 2022
The eight metre gold Christmas tree in Baileys Park on John Street, Singleton, came alive last night for the very first time, and what an amazing sight to behold. Dignitaries Member for Upper Hunter Dave Layzell MP, Member for Hunter Dan Repacholi MP, Mayor Sue Moore of Singleton and Member Services Laura Kelly from Business Singleton were all present to welcome the new tree, which signifies the beauty of coming together this Christmas.
“This tree lighting ceremony is the start of our planned festivities and initiatives for this Christmas” says Danny Eather, President, Business Singleton. “Our businesses and community have so much to look forward to between now and Christmas. Our focus is on bringing the Christmas spirit to town, encouraging locals to support and shop local which will drive a positive economic outcome for our area.”
“The funding to run these initiatives was made possible by the NSW Government Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Package and we are incredibly grateful to Singleton Council for partnering with us in applying for and achieving funding. Delivered by Business Singleton and supported by Singleton Council locals can expect to see the Light Up Your Business competition return - where the community vote for their favourite window displays.
There will also be prize draw tickets available in stores for free, one ticket with every purchase over $40 in participating stores. Weekly Spend in Singleton gift cards will be given away and the grand prize is a Luxury Staycation in Broke Fordwich. A Shop Singleton Christmas Gift Guide will be released in early December to help with all those last minute presents - giving locals the knowledge of how to keep their money circulating locally. “I think we all agree that the big online companies made plenty of income during the pandemic, it’s now time to make sure our community remains strong, sustainable and vibrant after too many challenging years. We’d like to see every Christmas dollar circulate locally this year.” says President Danny Eather. “If we can spread spirit and bring in the fun, especially with our major event Christmas on John Street which will be held on 9 December then our community will sparkle and so will our businesses.”
Business Singleton suggests keeping up to date with what’s happening via social media pages, including Singleton Council pages.
